Increased accuracy with JetMix

Aug 16, 2007

Twelve Jiskoot sampling systems have been supplied to an onshore oil production & export facility in Libya. The systems were ordered to replace the existing manual tank sampling.

The samplers include unique Jiskoot JetMix systems, which greatly improve the accuracy of water measurement in the extracted sample. JetMix systems extract oil from the pipeline via a quill and re-inject it with a specially designed nozzle which mixes the oil so that an accurately representative sample is taken.
All 12 systems have Jiskoot 710EL electric sample probes complete with heated top box and dual receiver cabinets with a single access door, two 18-litre sample receivers mounted an a weigh beam and a thermostatically controlled heater.  Designed for top entry into the pipeline and to fit 2in pipe stubs supplied by the customer, the probes extract highly representative 1cc grabs in accordance with ISO 3171, ASTM D 4177, API 8.2 and IP 6.2.

Use of a hydraulic extractor enables JetMix quills and nozzles and the sample probes to be extracted under full line pressure.  The condition of JetMix suction strainers is monitored by differential pressure gauges and the control system is notified of any blockage.  During normal operation the system’s pump motor is started and stopped automatically by the controller.
